Excel Learning Centers (ELCs): Building the Next Generation

Early learning experts tout that our children’s first few years of education provide the building blocks—social skills, cognitive achievement, study tools and more—for future success. At ELCs, we want these skills to last a lifetime, so we’ve fashioned a learning atmosphere that helps children grow, know, care, and share.

Philosophy

Every child is gifted uniquely with certain talents, temperaments and traits, but all deserve the opportunity to grow into greatness. ELCs believe that collaborating with families and communities provides the greatest environment for growth, and we accomplish this through a supportive, compassionate approach. Finally, by utilizing the Creative Curriculum™, ELCs provide the hands-on, developmentally appropriate experiences needed to build skills for studying and for living.

Staff

We hand-pick our staff from amongst the most qualified individuals in Eastern North Carolina. And while training, skills, and qualifications are vital, we believe it’s just as important that each team member is committed to the development of your child. Enthusiasm, creativity, gentleness, and a genuine love for children are prerequisites to becoming part of the Excel team.

Health & Safety

Health & Safety

Initial employment and continuing education requirements include health, safety, nutrition, trauma and other pertinent topics, and lead teachers and administrators are certified in CPR and First Aid. Rooms and toys are cleaned thoroughly throughout each day, with deep disinfecting happening several times weekly, following Centers for Disease Control guidelines.
Training

Training

All caregivers must complete 24 in-service hours of professional development every calendar year in topics relevant to their positions (child development and learning; family/community collaboration; program management; and more).
NC Pre-K/Head Start

NC Pre-K/Head Start

North Carolina Pre-Kindergarten is a state-funded program designed to provide 4-year-olds who may not otherwise attend preschool with a valuable educational experience. Many ELCs offer NC Pre-K with licensed early childhood teachers. Additionally, one ELC offers a more traditional Head Start program that supports children ages 0-5.
